19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents his initial trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies he has won twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
His retrieving approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to force a final set.
He saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, he secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
